History
dots BluuBin was established in 2007 by a group of entrepreneurs who wanted to take the pain out of accounting for their own group of businesses. The need was to automate as many of the administrative processes as possible and to make it so easy that anyone could understand it. Obviously we also wanted to save a bit on our ever ballooning accountants and auditors bill. It turns out the system is so successful in achieving our objectives that we just had to share it with other like-minded businesses and in 2009 started marketing the system. Since them BluuBin’s customer base has steadily grown through word-of-mouth which has allowed us to keep extending our fantastic system to be even better.

Our Team

Managing Director

Francois has been involved in the development of financial systems since 2001. He has a B.Com Accounting as well as a B.Accounting degree. He is a passionate about business accounting and has started and owned numerous businesses in the past and understand the challenges facing business owners very well. In the past Francois has also worked for PWC where he specialized in software- and systems auditing. His current responsibilities includes providing direction to the software development team on new features development as well as testing of the system to make sure it complies with the high standards we set ourselves. Francois also provides support and advice on initial system configuration.

Software Architect

Francois was one of the top 100 matriculates in the Free State and has B.Com IT (Cum Laude) and B.Com Honours degrees with accounting and financial management as his major subjects. He is currently working on his M.Com IT Management degree. Francois is extremely gifted and as such is our number one Software Architect responsible for overall system design and development. He also heads up the research into new technologies.

Director

André is a very experienced software development specialist. He has a B.Sc and B.Sc Hons (Cum Laude) degrees in Computer Science; has past experience as a qualified MCSE and MCT and has done various courses on business and software development. His 16 years experience in developing software for businesses small to corporate makes him a very valuable member of the team. Past experience include developing end-to-end systems for clients like KFC, Nandos, Wimpy, Whistle Stop, Wetherlys, Osiers, Vodacom, Foschini, Incredible Connection and 1000’s of smaller businesses. André has experience in the managing dedicated software development teams of up to 40 people and was responsible for understanding and implementing key business requirements. André is currently focussing on new business development and finding key partners to enhance the product offering.

Technical Director

Bertus is our technical expert and holds B.Sc and B.Sc Hons degrees in Physics and Computer Science and has past experience as a qualified MCSE and MCT. His experience in software development started when he founded a software development business in 1992 and has since then started a number of businesses. He was the director and lead Systems Architect and Software Developer for a well known Point-of-Sale system (pioneering PC based POS software). He has developed software for 1000’s of clients in more than 20 countries, including South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Angola, Zambia, Mauritius, Netherlands, England, Ireland, Germany, & Australasia. Some of his clients included: Vodacom (VodaShop), Shoprite/Checkers, Wimpy, Spar, Whistle Stop, Federated Timbers, OK Foods. Bertus currently hold the title of Technical Director at BluuBin and guides the technical direction of the development team.
